Sonographic evaluation of fetal scrotum, testes and epididymis

External male genitalia have rarely been evaluated on fetal ultrasound. Apart from visualization of the penis for sex determination, there are no specific instructions or recommendations scientific societies. This study aimed to review current knowledge about prenatal diagnosis scrotum and internal structures, with discussion regarding technical aspects clinical management. We conducted an article search in Medline, EMBASE, Scopus, Google Scholar, Web Science databases studies English Spanish language that discussed scrotal pathologies. identified 72 met inclusion criteria. Relevant data were grouped into sections embryology, ultrasound, pathology, diagnosis. The structures show a wide range pathologies, varying degrees prevalence morbidity. Most reported cases described incidental findings diagnosed via striking ultrasound signs. Studies discussing normative management scarce.
